The United States Women’s National Team (USWNT’s) first October friendly against Colombia yielded no goals in a 0-0 draw on Thursday night.
More Details
Alex Morgan missed a penalty in the first half, in what was the USWNT’s best scoring chance of the night.
Lynn Williams and Trinity Rodman got the start and were both active on the wings.
Williams forced one key turnover in the first half that led to a clear scoring chance, and Rodman proved dangerous on the dribble.
Colombia wonder Linda Caicedo gave the United States (U.S.) trouble on the left flank, but the USWNT defense held strong.
Naomi Girma anchored a center-back pairing with Alana Cook and then Becky Sauerbrunn to make sure nothing troubled starting goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher.
Meanwhile...
The USWNT had something to celebrate, as 18-year-old Jaedyn Shaw made her first appearance for the senior national team on Thursday night.

Shaw entered the match in the 87th minute, seeing out the scoreless draw.
The only other USWNT newcomer, teenage midfielder Olivia Moultrie, did not dress in the first game of the friendly series.
Becky Sauerbrunn and Sophia Smith also made their way back to the pitch for the USWNT in the second half.
Smith is still building minutes after a post-World Cup MCL sprain.
Sauerbrunn returns to the USWNT backline for the first time since April, after a foot injury kept her off the World Cup roster.
