USWNT To Celebrate Retired Icons Morgan And Naeher In October Friendly Series

The United States (U.S.) Women’s National Team (USWNT) has announced its return to international action this fall with a three-match October friendly series — highlighted by special tributes to recently retired legends Alex Morgan and Alyssa Naeher.

The fixtures mark the team’s first matches since early July and will serve as both preparation for the 2026 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers and a celebration of two of the most impactful players in U.S. women’s soccer history.

October 23, 2025 – vs. Portugal
Subaru Park – Chester, Pennsylvania
The opening match will honor Alex Morgan, the iconic forward who retires as one of the most decorated and recognizable figures in USWNT history.
The venue also holds special meaning, as it’s where Morgan netted her first senior international goal.

October 26, 2025 – vs. Portugal
Rentschler Field – Hartford, Connecticut
A celebration is planned for Alyssa Naeher, the Connecticut native and veteran goalkeeper who officially retired from international football in 2024.
The match will also be part of a split doubleheader featuring the U.S. Men’s Deaf National Team.
October 29, 2025 – Opponent TBD
CPKC Stadium – Kansas City, Missouri
The opponent for the final match of the series will be announced in the coming weeks.

“These matches are important for our growth as a team, but they also give us a chance to celebrate two players who gave so much to this program,” said USWNT Head Coach Emma Hayes.
“Portugal is a rising team in Europe, and we expect them to push us in every game. But above all, we’re excited to be back on home soil and honor the legacies of Alex and Alyssa.”
The October series promises to blend competitive spirit with moments of reflection and appreciation as the USWNT transitions into a new generation while honoring those who helped shape its rich legacy.
