UWCL: Teams Get Foes For Quarter Final

The eight teams that made it to the quarter final of the 2023/2024 UEFA Women’s Champions League (UWCL) now know their opponents after the draw for the last eight took place on Tuesday.

Holders, Barcelona are up against Norwegian side, Brann, who have reached their debut quarter-final at only their second attempt.
Record eight-time winners Lyon face Portuguese league winners, Benfica, the first Portuguese team to make this stage.
Dutch side, Ajax, who finished above German league winners, Bayern Munich and Italian champions, AS Roma in their group to also get to the last eight for the first time meet Chelsea, aiming to claim the trophy in Emma Hayes’s last season in charge.
Swedish team, BK Häcken, who last reached the quarter-finals more than a decade ago, take on two-time runners-up and Frenchs side, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
San Mamés in Bilbao will stage the final on Saturday 25 May.
The 50,000-plus capacity home of Bilbao’s Athletic Club was built on the site of the old San Mamés, replacing the 100-year-old arena of the same name. Athletic Club women’s team have played several games in the new stadium, attracting 48,121 fans for a 2019 cup tie against Atlético de Madrid, at the time a Spanish record.

Also drawn were the semi-finals, with potential ties including a rematch of the 2022/2023 last-four encounter between eventual champions Barcelona and Chelsea, as well as another possible meeting between Lyon and Paris Saint-Germain.

As of the quarter-finals, a club may register a maximum of three new eligible players for the remaining matches in the current competition. Such registration must be completed by 14 March at the latest.
Any or all of the players from the above quota of three may have been fielded by another club in round 1, round 2 or the group stage.
