Vancouver Whitecaps Salvages 2-2 Comeback Draw Against Colorado Rapids

On Wednesday night, Brian White’s 13th goal of the year in the 78th minute gave the Vancouver Whitecaps a 2-2 stalemate against the Colorado Rapids.

Vancouver (11-10-9) went 3-2-2 in its sixth straight away game. On Saturday, the Whitecaps will face D.C. United after not having played at home since August 20.
White capped the scoring and surpassed his previous goal total in his career by heading in Sebastian Berhalter’s corner kick. He and Camilo Sanvezzo are the only players in Whitecaps MLS history to have two 12-goal seasons.
Mathas Laborda, a defender for Vancouver, scored his first MLS goal in the 11th minute to start the scoring. Three minutes later, the Whitecaps came within three minutes of making it 2-0, but Colorado goalie Marko Ilic stopped White’s clear-cut header.
Diego Rubio, a forward for Colorado, knotted the score at one in the 47th. Calvin Harris’ cross was mishit by Rubio, but he persisted and managed to nudge it in. With 38 goals, Rubio moved into third place in club history against Portland on Saturday. He also added an assist.
To make it 2-1 for Colorado, Cole Bassett headed in Connor Ronan’s corner kick in the 67th minute. Bassett scored his sixth goal of the year with it.

John Herdman has been officially named the new coach of MLS based club Toronto FC. Starting on October 1st, the 48-year-old will take over as Toronto FC’s next head coach in the MLS.
Herdman became the coach of Canada in January 2018 before leading the North American giants to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, their first appearance in 36 years.
“I’m keen to start this new opportunity with Toronto FC,” he said. “It’s the right time for a new challenge.” Toronto fired former head coach Bob Bradley in June and are currently towards the bottom of the MLS standings.
