Victor Osimhen: Chelsea In Talks To Sign Napoli Striker On Loan
Written By Albert Echatah
Despite making a tonne of signings this summer, Chelsea may be about to pull off one of the surprises of the transfer window.
More Details
According to David Ornstein, the club is in talks with Napoli over striker Victor Osimhen in a deal that would see Romelu Lukaku, who struggled at Stamford Bridge, leave the team.

According to Transfermarkt, a total of £74 million has been spent this summer, with an additional £30 million going towards signings Willian Estevao and Kendry Paez, who will link up in 2025.
With Tosin Adarabioyo and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall being their only additions over 20, there is a sense that Chelsea is going overly youngster-centric this summer, even though the Blues have partially accrued that in transfer payments for departing stars like Ian Maatsen and Omari Hutchinson.
That might alter, though, if Osimhen decides to join; Ornstein has indicated that the Nigerian could come on a loan-to-buy agreement from Napoli.
According to a report by David Ornstein on X (previously Twitter), Lukaku is reportedly in negotiations with Napoli and Chelsea to relocate to the Estadio Diego Armando Maradona following an unsuccessful second stint at Stamford Bridge.

In a shocking turn of events, nevertheless, the Blues might end up signing Osimhen, a striker for Napoli. The two teams are in negotiations about Chelsea trying to recruit the Nigerian player, with the Blues hinting at a season-long loan and buy option as they want to acquire one of Europe’s best strikers to help with their striker shortage.
Osimhen’s transfer would be an initial loan, while Lukaku’s would likely be a permanent one. There was an option-to-buy clause, though, so if the loan arrangement worked out, recommendations for a long-term relocation would probably depend on how well Osimhen performed in west London.
