Vietnam Qualify For Maiden Women’s World Cup

After the qualification of the Philippines for the next FIFA Women’s World Cup coupled with the extension of participants to 32 teams, it is now certain that Australia/New Zealand 2023 will have more newcomers after Vietnam also made it to its first World Cup.

Vietnam edge Chinese Taipei 3-1 in the 2022 AFC Asian Women’s Cup Playoffs decider to qualify for their first FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Chuong Thi Kieu scored the first goal of the game for the Vietnamese in the seventh minute.

Su Yu-Hsuan equalised for Chinese Taipei in the 50th minute but Vietnam had the last laugh as Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy scored the winning goal for Vietnam in the 56th minute.

The result sealed the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup spot for Vietnam and AFC (Asian Football Confederation) fifth and a final direct ticket to the World Cup.
