Walker, Jesus and two others test positive for Coronavirus

Gabriel Jesus and Kyle Walker have tested positive for the coronavirus according to a statement released by Manchester City earlier today.

Both players had been set to face Newcastle United in a Premier League Boxing Day fixture but will now likely miss the game along with games against Everton and Chelsea.

Manchester City also announced that two members of staff also tested positive but their identities were not revealed.

“All four personnel will now observe a period of self-isolation in accordance with Premier League and UK Government protocol on quarantine,” City’s statement read.

“Everyone at the club wishes our colleagues a speedy recovery over the Christmas period ahead of their return to work, training and competition.”

Both players should make a return for Manchester City’s Carabao Cup semi final clash with rivals, Manchester United on January 6.
