German Bundesliga side, Union Berlin recently signed German left-back, Robin Gosens from Inter Milan and he scored a brace on his debut and the club are looking to pick up another player from the Serie A.

More Details

The club director, director Oliver Ruhnert refuses to rule out signing Leonardo Bonucci and reveals Gosens joined the Bundesliga side from Inter for less than €15m. Ruhnert spoke to the press yesterday and confirmed that Bonucci is among his targets. “We definitely want to add a central defender,” the 51-year-old said.

“He hasn’t arrived yet and I assume we’ll finalize our planning by next Friday. Then we’ll know if he’s coming or not.” Ruhnert also spoke about Gosens’ signing from Inter, suggesting that the German winger cost less than €15m.

“There are so many things with today’s contracts, such as options and bonuses,” he said. Ruhnert added that the initial price was close to €13m, suggesting that €15m is a fee that can be reached with add-ons.

“Gosens had the dream of playing in the Bundesliga, also with regard to the European Championships at home next year,” he continued. “In the end, we managed to persuade the player.” He further added.

Despite these links, including another reported offer from Genoa, Bonucci continue to ask that he be reinstated back into the Juventus first team. The club have made it clear to him that he’s not in their plans, so he’s expected to leave before the transfer window closes, but he’s probably aiming to receive some sort of compensation from the club before he leaves.

Meanwhile…

Another German side, Bayern Munich are keen to hold on to their player, Benjamin Pavard, amid talks of a reported move to Inter Milan. Before the Bavarians faced Augsburg today, a match that they won 3-1, coach of the team, Thomas Tuchel further clarified the situation of Pavard.

“He has some problems so he’s not with the squad. We understand Benji wants to join Inter but to complete a transfer, there’s not only one way to consider,” he said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

“We need to find a replacement or it won’t happen.” Pavard is under contract with Bayern Munich until June 2024 and Inter are ready to invest €28m plus €5m add-ons to secure his signature.

The Nerazzurri will be hoping that this deal doesn’t end up like that of Lazar Samardzic whom the club had agreed a deal with Udinese, and even underwent a medical, but in the end, the move fell through due to new demands from the player’s father.
