Ruben Amorim and his Manchester United coaching staff are people Lisandro Martinez “believes a lot” in.

Although there have been signs of improvement in the transition to his system, Amorim, who joined United from Sporting Lisbon in November, has failed to motivate a change in their season.

Amorim’s press conferences have raised the possibility of a relegation struggle, although Sunday’s 2-2 tie between United and Liverpool had many encouraging aspects.
United could have won Sunday’s thrilling match at Anfield, where Liverpool leads the Premier League. Harry Maguire lost a great chance to win the match in the last seconds of extra time, and Amad equalised with ten minutes remaining.
After the final whistle, Martinez talked to MUTV after putting United ahead 1-0 in the second half. “For sure, I feel a little bit disappointed because we came here to win the game and we showed until the last seconds that we could win and we didn’t,” he explained.
“But I’m happy with the performance of the team. We fight, we play well and with freedom. A few matches ago, we were thinking too much. We were playing with stress or those kind of things, but we have to learn from that, show more personality and with the character we showed today.

“I believe a lot in this team. I believe a lot in the coach and his staff. I think football is mental and today if you see the game compared to the last few games, it’s a completely different team, no?
“We have to take the positive things and keep going. It gives us more confidence, honestly, and football is about that. Belief, confidence and we will be more secure in ourselves.
“We can do it, we can compete against everyone. We showed against City and today we did it against Liverpool. We have the right players and we have to believe, and that’s it.”
