We Will Fight With Dignity Until The End – Pitso Mosimane

“We have hit a big turbulence as a team, but we will fight with dignity until to the end. Everything happens for a reason, maybe there are bigger things for us to come.”

Coach of Al Ahly of Egypt, Pitso Mosimane as expressed his dissatisfaction with the outcome of his team’s game against Tala’ea El Gaish in Matchday 31 of the Egyptian Premier League.

Al Ahly were held to a goalless draw by Tala’ea El Gaish with some controversial moment in the game which raised some eyebrows between Al Ahly’s bench and the match officials but the coach said he’ll not blame anyone for the result of the match.

“I am very disappointed with the result but I am not disappointed with the effort that the players put in. We wanted to win and we tried from the first minute to score but we failed to find the net.”

“To be honest, we cannot talk much about the tactics in this game. I think El Gaish’s goalkeeper was very good tonight and many of our crosses were easy for him.”

“As I said before I do not speak about any referee. He is an experienced referee. Maybe he could not see from where he is (Yasser’s goal). He relied on his linesman and another three VAR referees to make his decision. They all made a decision so we have nothing to do. It is very painful when situations like this happen because it takes effort and emotions from everybody.”

Still On The Match…

Al Ahly’s director of football Sayed Abdelhafiz has also voiced his disappointment with the VAR decision that denied the team the maximum points against Tala’ea El Gaish.

In his post-match interview, Abdelhafiz reflected on the game and clarified some of the reasons which he thinks were behind the team’s unsatisfying results in the league this season.

“We were denied a clear goal tonight. We were denied two points after the referees did not allow Yasser Ibrahim’s goal.”

“Four years ago, Mohamed Bassiony, the VAR referee of tonight’s match, whistled a penalty against us and it was not a right decision. Tonight, he should have called the referee to watch the incident and make a decision but he did not.”

“I am not making excuses but we were not treated fairly. The league title is a very precious and valuable title for us. During the whole league campaign, the VAR was called in only four or five matches.”

“We are disappointed by tonight’s result. We apologize to our fans as we missed many chances to be in a better position.”

“We suffered from fatigue. We played 9 games during Ramadan and we also played 17 matches with only 48 hours gap between our games despite also playing in Africa. No big teams can perform in such a busy schedule.”

“I am afraid that the Egyptian Football Association, EFA, could reschedule a cup game during the international break. We will not accept that decision.”

“Finally, we have to keep in mind that this group of players won two CAF Champions League titles, the league title, the Egyptian Cup title, and the bronze medal in the FIFA Club World Cup.”
