Why Napoli Is Unhappy With Serie A Broadcaster And Have Refused To Speak To Them
Written By Onyeka Daniel
There is an ongoing war between Serie A defending champions, Napoli and DAZN, who own the domestic broadcasting right for Serie A games, hence they have a say in the scheduling of games for the League.

The Partenopei President, Aurelio De Laurentiis announced on Sunday night that players and staff members will no longer release pre and post-match interviews with DAZN: ‘We’ll only talk to Sky and Rai.’ De Laurentiis briefly showed up at the Stadio Maradona press room on Sunday night following Napoli’s win over Juventus.
Several Italian sources reported that ADL looked irritable and said Napoli players would no longer release interviews with DAZN. “We are done with DAZN; we’ll only talk to Sky and Rai,” said the Napoli owner. De Laurentiis was furious before kick-off when he was caught on camera inside the tunnel.

However, according to La Repubblica journalist Marco Azzi, this is not why De Laurentiis will no longer allow his players to talk to DAZN. On Sunday night, Azzi wrote on X, formerly Twitter, that ADL is furious with the Italian broadcasters who scheduled a Napoli home game against Atalanta on March 30 at 11:30 GMT, the day before Easter.
According to Tuttosport, however, the game must be played on March 30 because of Atalanta’s involvement in the Europa League, while ADL wanted to play on April 1, so coach Francesco Calzona would have had more time to prepare the match given that he will be busy with Slovakia national team for the international break.
DAZN broadcasts all ten Serie A games each weekend and has recently won domestic TV rights for Serie A until 2029. Perhaps the FIGC can broker a peace talk between both parties to end the impasse.

Last summer, Paris Saint-Germain transferred midfielder Leandro Paredes to AS Roma for a fee of approximately €2.5 million as the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner sought to revive his career.
More than halfway into the 2023-24 season, Paredes spoke to the media in Italy and noted his happiness. Furthermore, the 29-year-old feels that his form is returning to a level that he expects from himself that will allow him to be a mainstay on the Argentina national team.

“If my performance is clearly improving? Like I said, I’m happy,” Paredes said in a recent interview. “I’m getting back to my best level, and I’m trying to improve every day to make my contribution to the team, and I think we’re all doing it very well.” He further added.
Paredes has settled nicely into his post-PSG career and joins Lionel Messi to have found a place where he can continue to thrive. In a recent interview with ESPN, Neymar Jr. noted that Messi seems happy in Miami after leaving the French giants last summer.
It was time for PSG to hit the reset button on several veterans on the squad and move toward a young group. The best outcome for all is for the Parisians to build a team for Luis Enrique and the players who have left to succeed elsewhere.
