It was a great night for Inter Milan players, coach, staffs and management on Monday as they defeated AC Milan at the Giuseppe Meazza stadium to lift their 20th League title and it would definitely be a double feeling of joy for former AC Milan player, Hakan Calhanoglu.

More Details

The Turkish midfielder has claimed that he did not deserve the abuse he got from some AC Milan fans after his move to Inter, and cited the Scudetto win as his ‘revenge’. Calhanoglu made the controversial switch from Milan to Inter in the summer of 2021 on a free transfer, and he was forced to watch on as his former club celebrated the Scudetto the following season.

He became the subject of ridicule as a result, but he is now able to celebrate a league title of his own. The former Bayer Leverkusen man has become a key figure in Simone Inzaghi’s team, playing in a deeper role, having never really managed to nail down a position with the Rossoneri.

Calhanoglu spoke during an interview with Il Giornale about Inter’s title win and the emotions that he feels afterwards. What are your emotions? “I am happy and proud to have reached this extraordinary goal. We wanted this second star with all of our beings. A success that we deserved for the splendid work done together.

“I saw the images of the match, the celebrations of the fans and I still can’t believe it. It’s too great a joy to describe.” You joined Inter on a free from Milan… “I have always worked in silence and also suffered in silence. Once I arrived at Inter I had only one objective: to give my best and win with this extraordinary team. The victory was a great revenge for me.”

Is the title a kind of revenge? “Revenge for the suffering I felt the year I arrived, when we lost against Milan. I cannot forget everything that was done against me and my family by the AC Milan fans but in my I was sure in my heart that everything would end well.

“My redemption would come, and winning the title during the derby was my greatest satisfaction. It was all written like this because he knows that I didn’t deserve what they did to me. “I shut up, without ever saying a word I worked and only thought about doing well. “This victory pays me back for everything.”

Do you see your future in Milano?“I feel at home in Milano. Even when I finish my career I will want to live in Milano. I feel great in this city. Most Milanese people love me and I feel it.” He further added. After clinching the Scudetto, Inter’s match against Torino has been shifted by one day. The Nerazzurri were mathematically crowned Champions of Italy on Monday.

So, they will have the Serie A trophy and medals handed to them on the pitch at San Siro after the match against Torino. It was originally scheduled for Saturday April 27 in the afternoon, but has officially been moved to Sunday April 28 in an early Kickoff match. This was requested by Inter so they can then begin the open-top bus parade through the city streets after that event, culminating in Piazza Duomo.

The Nerazzurri CEO Beppe Marotta has confirmed that Steven Zhang and Suning have every intention of staying at Inter Milan. The Inter executive addressed the future of the club’s ownership situation while speaking to RAI Radio. The future of Suning at Inter has been one of the big question marks lingering over the club in recent months.

The looming deadline of the Nerazzurri owners’ massive loan from US fund Oaktree Capital means that it has not been certain by any means that they would be in control past next month. But recent developments seem to have clarified things. Suning are planning to refinance their debt to Oaktree. They will do so through a new loan, from another US-based fund in the form of PIMCO.

And Inter’s CEO Marotta has given further confirmation that this is the plan. Regarding the future of Suning at Inter, Marotta said that “The bottom line is what Steven [Zhang, Inter President] has said in recent days. “He’s talked about wanting to continue here. And my understanding is that he will do so calmly. “He will respect the deadline,” Marotta continued.

“But there won’t be any revolutions. “He’s happy to continue on together. And so are we. “I believe that we have a winning model,” Marotta said. “I use that presumptuous phrase that because in the end, in sport it’s not the case that whoever spends the most wins. We have certain values.”

“It’s presumptuous for me to say this, but it’s true.” Marotta also contrasted the feeling of winning the Serie A title in the 2020-21 season with this campaign’s triumph. “It’s a different feeling satisfaction,” the Inter CEO said. “But it’s strong in both cases.”

“The one with Conte was my first at Inter,” Marotta said of the 2020-21 title.“It represented something that I didn’t think that I would be able to achieve so quickly.”“The one with Inzaghi is beautiful, because it means that we win the second star, which will remain in history.”Marotta called this “A kind of satisfaction that I’ve been looking for for years.”
