Wissam Ben Yedder “Firmly Contests” Rape Accusation

Having been contacted by Nice-Matin, the lawyer of Monaco striker Wissam Ben Yedder has announced that her client “firmly contests” the accusations he is facing, having been charged with rape, attempted rape and sexual assault two weeks ago.

The Monaco captain and his younger brother were accused by two women aged 19 and 20 over alleged events that took place on the night of July 10 in the town of Beausoleil, near the Principality.
Nice-Matin indicate that the pair were take into police custody for 48 hours, and were questioned by the Nice judical police.

He was released on judicial supervision after posting a bail of €900,000.

He has featured in both of Monaco’s games so far this season, having been confirmed as the club captain for the upcoming season by new manager Adi Hütter shortly before he was charged.
The French international’s lawyer, Hasna Louzé, has told the regional outlet that she hopes for “the justice system to be able to carry out its work calmly without any kind of pressure”.
