The fastest woman on Earth has a new crown.Triple gold medallist sprinter Elaine Thompson-Herah has been named the Laureus Sportswoman winner of 2022.
“Laureus Sportswoman of the Year. I really can’t express how I feel but it is indeed an honor to be nominated against these wonderful and super talented ladies across the world and chosen as the winner of this prestigious award it is mind blowing” She said via her Twitter handle.

She won the prestigious award on the back of stellar performances in 2021, including an Olympic treble title-winning performance at the Tokyo Games.
She was nominated alongside Ash Barty, Allyson Felix, Katie Ledecky, Emma McKeon and Alexia Thompson-Herah.
“I am the second woman to do what I have done at the Olympics. To be the second fastest woman alive is really an honour and a privilege, it is an honour to walk away with this trophy” She said to the Laureus media.
Other winners of the award are: Max Verstappen who emerge as the sportsman of the year, Emma Raducanu won as world breakthrough of the year.

Biles overcame a mental block at Tokyo 2020 to secure a bronze medal in the last apparatus final.
