In a one-sided English Women’s Super League (WSL) match, Arsenal FC trashed Brighton and Hove Albion 5-0 at the Emirates on Friday.

Five goals from different goal scorers cemented the Gunner’s biggest win of the league season after the departure of former coach Jonas Eideval.

Leonhardsen-Maanum set up Beth Mead, whose left-footed striker inside the box, opened the scoring in the 13th minute.

Kim Little’s assist in the 22nd minute was tapped into an empty net by Caitlin Foord to double the advantage.



Maanum made it 3-0 with a long-range strike into the top corner three minutes later.

A highly disciplined Brighton side prevented the Gunners from extending the lead till the 76th minute when Lina Hurtig made it 4-0 from McCabe’s second assist of the game.

After a foul inside the box, Alessia Russo completed the rout with the fifth goal from the penalty spot in the additional minutes of the second half.

Brighton still seats in the third position ahead of Arsenal FC on the WSL table with 13 points.

The London side is a place and a point behind them in fourth place.
