The English Women’s Super League (WSL) continues to strengthen its pull on elite global talent, with more NWSL stars completing high-profile moves to England in recent days.

More Details

San Diego Wave FC and North Carolina Courage have both been hit by key departures, underlining a growing trend of top players leaving the United States for the WSL.

Former San Diego Wave forward Delphine Cascarino has signed for London City Lionesses, shortly after the Wave confirmed a mutual termination of the French international’s contract, despite it still having time to run.

Cascarino’s move is a major boost for the Lionesses as they bolster their squad ahead of the new WSL campaign.

Meanwhile, North Carolina Courage captain Denise O’Sullivan has brought an end to a landmark chapter with the club by joining Liverpool Women.

The Republic of Ireland international leaves the Courage after a club-record 186 appearances, having been a central figure in the team’s identity and leadership for several seasons.

These transfers follow the recent switch of USWNT midfielder Sam Coffey to Manchester City, further highlighting England’s growing appeal to the world’s best players.

Speaking on her decision, Cascarino summed up the attraction of the English game:
“England — for men and women — is the country of football. It’s always been a goal of mine to play in this league.”

With financial growth, increased visibility, and competitive depth, the WSL is rapidly positioning itself as the destination league in women’s football, reshaping the global transfer landscape in the process.
