Danielle Turner had given the visitors an early lead, but Carla Ward’s side struggled to contain City and relented in the second half.

The win lifted City to second in the table, level on points with third-placed Arsenal and three behind leaders Chelsea, who meet on Sunday.

It was the third straight win for City in the WSL after a 1-0 loss to Brighton last month.

For Villa, it was consecutive losses for the team after a 2-1 loss to Everton FC in the game leading to Saturday's encounter.


Six games will take centre stage in the WSL on Sunday.
