Zambia End Relationship With Micho

Written By Omolagba Oluwayemi

Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic will not be seeing off his contract with Zambia National Men Football Team after his contract with the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) was terminated by mutual agreement.

The Serbian signed a 2-year deal with FAZ less than six months after leaving Zamalek but a run of poor results has led to the termination of his contract.

Zambia were knocked out of the COSAFA Cup in the group stages which is far below the expectations of the Federation having also failed to qualify for next January’s African Cup of Nations to be hosted in Cameroon.

They finished the COSAFA group campaign with one victory in four matches, finishing third behind South Africa and Mozambique.

“FAZ can confirm that it has reached a mutual separation agreement with its senior Men’s National Team coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic. After a meeting between FAZ and the coach, it was agreed that in the interest of progress for both parties they had to separate,” according to a statement released by FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala.

In his parting words, Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic said:

“I am grateful to the Zambian people, the players, coaches, officials and the fans who supported me in various ways during my stay. All the positive experience with Chipolopolo Zambia I will use in my career ahead and would like to wish all the best to Zambia.”
