The 48 year old is a renowned American sports journalist and his colleagues said while the emergency services responded as swiftly as they could, the unfortunate incident was not to be averted as per SkySports.
However, his brother Eric does not believe Grant died a natural death as he claims he “could have been killed” after “receiving death threats” following the rainbow shirt he wore to the stadium earlier in the tournament.
Eric’s claims to this point are baseless and unfounded but the late journalist did make a name for himself as one of the most important in the United States and globally.
Wahl on Monday had posted that he felt his body broke down and visited the hospital where he was said to have bronchitis and was feeling better a bit.
“My body finally broke down on me – three weeks of little sleep, high stress and lots of work can do that to you.
“What had been a cold over the last 10 days turned into something more severe on the night of the USA-Netherlands game, and I could feel my upper chest take on a new level of pressure and discomfort.
“I didn’t have COVID (I test regularly here), but I went into the medical clinic at the main media centre today, and they said I probably have bronchitis.
“They gave me a course of antibiotics and some heavy-duty cough syrup, and I’m already feeling a bit better just a few hours later. But still: No bueno.”
He has also wrote on how he got detained for 25 minutes at the stadium and forcibly had his phone taken for wearing a rainbow T-shirt in support of LGBTQ community which is against the laws of the Arab nation.
