It’s been almost a week since Juventus sacked Massimiliano Allegri as their manager, and while Paolo Montero was put in charge for their last two games of the 2023-24 season, he’s expected to make way for a permanent manager who will be in charge for next season.

And going by the various reports circulating, their one and only choice remains Bologna coach, Thiago Motta. Hence, today could be the first step towards that goal.
According to a report by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the former Barcelona, Genoa, Inter Milan and PSG midfielder will communicate his decision to leave the Rossoblu before the summer transfer window to President Joey Saputo within a few hours.

The club management are aware for quite some time about the rumours surrounding their head coach but today they are expected to be informed officially. Juventus have readied a €3.5 million net per season two-year contract with the option of a third for Thiago Motta.
Sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli met him on Monday evening and sorted out the details. Bologna president Joey Saputo will attempt to keep Motta at the club after incredible achievements this campaign but he knows that his manager has already made up his mind.
The Bianconeri are waiting for the 41-year-old coach in Turin and will start their transfer proceedings following his arrival. In a related development, former AC Milan winger, Alexis Saelemaekers may have inadvertently confirmed the manager’s exit.
Saelemaekers’ statement recently may have spilled the beans, as many fans and observers consider it a farewell message to the seemingly departing coach. “Thank you mister for everything you did for us. It was incredible,” said the Belgian in his post-match interview with DAZN following the thrilling 3-3 draw between Bologna and Juventus.
Meanwhile…
Federico Chiesa has become one of the latest Juventus players to publicly comment onAllegri’s sacking. The attacker clearly did not enjoy working under Allegri, especially after the manager switched from a 4-3-3 system to a 3-5-2 formation. It is well-known that Chiesa performs best as a left attacker in a 4-3-3 system.

But Allegri seemed less concerned about this, instead forcing him to play as part of a front two. Chiesa struggled under this setup, and several reports indicate that he would only sign a contract extension if Allegri left the club. With Allegri now sacked, players like Danilo and Dusan Vlahovic quickly sent public messages to the former manager.
Chiesa waited until yesterday and posted on Instagram: “We shared a three-year journey together, culminating in a title victory! Good luck to the future mister. Big hug, thanks for everything!” Of course, it is not a secret that Chiesa and Allegri struggled in their relationship with each other.
