Thursday saw another trio of National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) matchups take the field, with a couple of players managing to emerge from midweek play with some noteworthy statistics.
More Details
Gotham forward Lynn Williams netted her 78th NWSL goal in the showdown between Gotham FC and Houston, tying ex-Red Star Sam Kerr’s record for the most goals in league history.
The early point helped propel the Bats past the Houston Dash, finishing off the game with a final score of 1-0.
The Wave bested Utah Royals FC 2-0 at Snapdragon Stadium, with United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) newcomer Jaedyn Shaw and former Royals forward Makenzy Doniak contributing to the goal tally.
The win — the Wave's third-straight at home — came as a relief to the San Diego side that's recently been struggling with a spate of big-name injuries.
After a Utah handball in the box in the 33rd minute, Shaw stepped up and converted her first league penalty, becoming the second youngest player to take (and score) a regular season penalty in NWSL history at 19 years, 170 days.
Meanwhile...
In Seattle, the Reign played to a 0-0 draw against the visiting Kansas City Current.
Despite Kansas City's weekend travel woes, head coach Vlatko Andonovski's squad remains unbeaten on the season.

While the home side didn't walk away with a win, they did become the first NWSL team to shutout the mighty Current this year.
Relatively, the NWSL and CBS Sports announced an expanded partnership with 21 additional regular season matches set to stream live across Paramount+ and CBS Sports Golazo Network.
