More Magpies Misery! Schar, Joelinton Join Newcastle’s Growing Injury List Ahead Of Carabao Cup
Written By Albert Echatah
It looks like Newcastle United has lost two more players to injury just days before they play Chelsea in the Carabao Cup quarterfinal.
More Details
On Tuesday night, the Magpies will visit Stamford Bridge after defeating 10-man Fulham 3-0 at St. James’ Park on Saturday. Following Raul Jimenez’s dismissal, goals in the second half from Dan Burn, Miguel Almiron, and Lewis Miley gave the home side all three points, moving them up to sixth in the Premier League.
But defender Fabian Schar and midfielder Joelinton were sent off in the first half, dealing a double blow to Eddie Howe’s already severely injured club.
The Brazil international is a vital component of Howe’s team, and the center-back has participated in every minute of Newcastle’s Premier League and Champions League campaign thus far.
In addition, it was disclosed prior to kickoff that Alexander Isak, the striker, had sustained a groin injury that prevented him from playing against Fulham. After the game, Howe responded to a question regarding Schar and Joelinton’s fitness, saying, “It’s hard to tell.”
Apart from the three players already stated, Newcastle also has eight more injured players in addition to Sandro Tonali, who is suspended. As the issues build and the games become closer together, this could provide Chelsea a much-needed advantage.

Meanwhile…
Erik ten Hag is anxious to prevent Jadon Sancho from making a “empty gesture,” therefore Manchester United is apparently willing to accept a “significant loss” on him.
Sancho has a disruptive impact on the rest of United’s team, according to manager Ten Hag, who is determined to get rid of the winger.
This season, Sancho and Ten Hag had a nasty falling out, with the Dutchman publicly criticizing his player in the media for his lack of effort in practice. After spending £73 million on him in 2021, United is now willing to suffer a “significant loss” on the player in the January transfer window.
