After Brazil had grabbed the lead through Real Madrid striker Rodrygo, US captain Christian Pulisic’s rasping first-half free-kick secured a draw for Gregg Berhalter’s team at Orlando’s Camping World Stadium.

After witnessing his squad being utterly humiliated by Colombia on Saturday, Berhalter—who was under pressure to step down—had pushed his teammates to perform better against the five-time World Cup champions.
After 19 losses in a row against Brazil, Berhalter’s team rallied with a tenacious performance that earned them their first-ever tie.
The hosts’ hero was US and Nottingham Forest goalie Matt Turner, who made a number of superb saves to hold off Brazil.
On the other side, Brazil’s goalkeeper Alisson twice stopped the United States from scoring late in the game, stopping goals from Pulisic and Brenden Aaronson in rapid succession.
“It’s obviously a huge bounce back performance for us from the other day,” Turner said, citing the Colombia rout. “I think what we did today can sort of put that to bed.”

With a club option for 2027, the 24-year-old Brazilian is now signed through the 2026 MLS season.
“We are proud to see Célio’s growth through our pipeline”, sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel said in a press release. “He has grown as a professional, both on and off the field, and to reap the rewards with a new contract was something he worked really hard for. Celio continues to elevate his game each and every day and we hope that he doesn’t stop raising the bar.”
