The 43-year-old replaces Vincent Kompany, who joined Bayern Munich following Burnley’s relegation from the English Premier League.

Parker has not had a job since March 2023. Club Bruges, a Belgian team, fired him in March 2023 after he managed just two victories in his twelve games. Parker will be looking to guide the Clarets into the Premier League after guiding Fulham and Bournemouth from the Championship.

“I’m really pleased to be here,” Parker said.

“I have been speaking with Burnley for some time now which has been a positive thing as I’ve now got a real feel for the people around the club. To be around the training ground now you start to get that feeling again and I can’t wait to get on the training field and start work.

“For us to be successful this year is the most important thing. We have to win and build a team the fans and club can be proud of. This team can represent every single one of them in that aspect and that’s the aim.”

Meanwhile…

According to reports, Premier League clubs have approved the introduction of a development plan that will curb spending beginning with the 2025–2026 season.

The spending cap proposals were approved by 16 teams, and their goal is to keep the gap between the Premier League’s lower-half teams and its financial titans from growing.

Nevertheless, a report from BBC Sport claims that three teams vying for European football—Manchester United, Manchester City, and Aston Villa—are thought to have voted against the proposal.
